On Thursday, the U.S. Department of State issued an alert for all citizens of this country who are abroad. It warns them about a possible threat of attacks in connection with the conflict between Israel and Hamas.
The State Department has issued new travel advisories for Lebanon and Israel, raising the alert to the highest level and allowing US government personnel, whose presence in these countries is not necessary, and their family members to return home.
Earlier, the US Embassy in Beirut also urged Americans to leave the country as quickly as possible, “while commercial options still exist”.
– We took this step because we saw increased activity that justified it. We saw a series of protests around the US embassy – said the State Department spokesman Matthew Miller on Thursday.

A warning was issued at a time when protests erupted throughout the Middle East in response to the war between Israel and Hamas, with many demonstrators attacking US diplomatic posts.
The State Department last issued this kind of warning in August 2022, following the assassination of Al-Qaeda leader – Ayman al-Zawahiri, warning that “supporters of Al-Qaeda or affiliated terrorist organizations may attempt to attack targets in the US, their personnel or American tourists.”
